Rose Williams

A longtime Latin teacher, Rose Williams holds degrees from Baylor University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, with post graduate work in Latin and the Humanities at the University of Dallas and the University of Texas at Arlington. On a Rockefeller grant she did research at Bodleian Library of Oxford University in England and at the University of Pisa. She has taught Latin at high school and university level.

In addition to GODS AND OTHER ODD CREATURES, she is the author of a Latin quotation book, LATIN QUIPS AT YOUR FINGERTIPS, three historical Latin readers, LECTIONES DE HISTORIA ROMANA, DUCES ROMANORUM, and THE YOUNG ROMANS, a lighthearted Roman history, ONCE UPON THE TIBER, and its sequel, THE LIGHTER SIDE OF THE DARK AGES. She has also written a lighthearted survey of the Aeneid, THE LABORS OF AENEAS, a brief biography, CICERO THE PATRIOT, a Latin I literature book VERGIL FOR BEGINNERS, a workbook EXAMINING VERGIL, a youngster's reader TRES PORCULI, and a book of skits on AP Lyric poetry CATULLUS, OVID AND HORACE: A TRIO OF LYRICAL TREATS.

She writes articles and gives workshops on Latin literature and pedagogy, serves on various classics consultant boards, and maintains a website devoted to Latin teaching materials.
